The leadership training programme for the new university entrants will start on 12th February at countrywide military and police establishments.
The Additional Secretary to the Ministry of Higher Education Mr. P. G. Jayasinghe said that names of selected students have already been uploaded in the website of the Ministry www.leadership.mohe.gov.lk.
He said that 7038 students selected for training in the third batch would conclude their programme on February 28th at 22 centres countrywide.
He said that Ministry has arranged leadership training for a total of 26,721 students and training for a fourth batch will also be held and those who couldn’t attend the previous programmes will be included in the fourth batch. Mr. Jayasinghe also said that if there are any questions on the leadership training programme, students could contact the ministry on 0112399314 and 0112435306.
Meanwhile, the Secretary to the Ministry of Higher Education Dr. Sunil Jayantha Navaratne said that students who sat the GCE (A/L) examination in 2012 for the second or third time could participate in the leadership training programme if they received letters asking them to participate in it.
He said that if they got letters under the 2011 results, while they had obtained better results from 2012 examination, they could attend the programme and there was no need to register under the previous year’s results, Dr. Navaratne also said that they could produce the certificate when they get admitted to a University based on new results and there was no need to participate in the leadership training programme again under the new results.(niz)
